Citadel Base Retributor Armour (12ml)

If you’re looking for an opaque gold for miniatures, Citadel Base Retributor Armour 12ml is an excellent foundation. This paint provides a rich, metallic gold tone that works especially well for armor, symbols, trim, and other prominent details. As a Base paint, it’s designed to create an even coat that you can build on later. This shade is a proven starting point for armies and individual models that are meant to look striking or elegant.

Retributor Armour is especially useful when gold should be a central part of the model, not just a small accent. Many hobbyists use the paint on hero miniatures, ornate armor, badges of honor, or decorative elements because the tone remains immediately visible. The Base paint also delivers a clear golden effect on larger surfaces. It’s the right choice if you need a striking yet easy-to-control gold base.

With gold, an opaque base coat really pays off, as metallic paints can quickly look patchy on dark surfaces. Retributor Armour helps build an even coat and prepare a clean finish. This is useful when painting a model with lots of gold areas or when you want to refine the color later with shading and highlights. This often saves you several intermediate steps.

This color works very well for anything that should look high-quality and eye-catching. On armor, crowns, symbols, or decorations, it creates a clear gold effect that blends well into the overall look. This is especially useful for figures with a heroic or ceremonial feel. The shade can also make a big difference on miniatures with a religious, royal, or ceremonial character.

Compared with lighter gold colors, Retributor Armour often looks richer and a little more saturated. This is a good choice if you want a solid gold base that doesn’t look too pale. You can always add lighter metallic tones later for fine highlights. But if you’re looking for a strong base coat to start with, this Base paint is usually the better choice.

The 12 ml bottle is a good choice when you use gold selectively and with a clear plan. With base colors in particular, you often don’t need huge quantities, but rather reliable quality for specific models. This size is therefore well suited to individual projects and smaller armies. If you want to build a practical paint palette, this size gives you a solid foundation.

If an army or individual model is intentionally meant to feature a lot of gold, Retributor Armour is very useful. The shade makes an impact right away and helps you create a strong visual focal point. This is especially useful when working with high-contrast colors and using gold as an important design element. This keeps the model easy to read and looking premium.

Retributor Armour is not just a finishing shade, but also a base for further details. You can shade the area later, refine it with lighter highlights, or combine it with other metallic colors. That’s exactly what makes this paint interesting for more ambitious paint jobs. It helps you achieve a result that can be built up in a controlled, clean way.
