Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek brings one of the best-known science-fiction universes ever into the Magic multiverse in 2026. This Universes Beyond set will be released on November 13, 2026 and combines 60 years of Star Trek history with familiar Magic formats, new mechanics, Commander decks, special collector variants, and plenty of starship flair.
The set is especially exciting for Magic Players, Commander fans, Collectors, and Star Trek fans because Wizards of the Coast has now published significantly more details. There are not only Play Booster and Collector Booster products, but also four Commander decks, Collector's Edition Commander decks, Bundles, a Beam Me Up Bundle, a Beginner Box, Draft Night, two Scene Boxes, and Prerelease packs.
In this article, you will get an up-to-date overview of the Release, the most important products, confirmed mechanics, special card variants, and the question of who Magic: The Gathering is particularly worthwhile for | Star Trek is especially worthwhile.
Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek as a Universes Beyond set
Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is part of the Universes Beyond series. In this product line, Wizards of the Coast brings well-known brands and worlds into Magic. Following sets such as The Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Fallout, Final Fantasy, and other crossovers, the focus now shifts to the world of Starfleet, the Klingons, the Borg, and many iconic captains.
The Star Trek universe fits surprisingly well with Magic. Crews, starships, diplomatic decisions, alien worlds, and major conflicts can be effectively represented as cards, mechanics, and Commander strategies. At the same time, the set appeals not only to experienced Magic Players. Star Trek fans who have had little to do with Magic so far also get a comparatively easy entry point with products like the Beginner Box.
The set has the set code TRK. The associated Commander cards use TRC, while the so-called Stardates cards use the code SDS. The main set Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is legal in all formats. The Commander cards and Stardates cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage; individual reprints are also legal in the formats in which they were already allowed.
Release, Prerelease, and important dates
The worldwide Tabletop Release of Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is November 13, 2026. The set will already be available on MTG Arena on November 10, 2026. The Prerelease takes place from November 6 to 12, 2026.
For us as cardcosmos, one thing is particularly important: We are an official WPN Store. This allows us to offer and ship Magic products during the Prerelease period in accordance with the applicable WPN rules. So if you don't want to wait until the global Release, it's worth taking a look at our Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek category.
Additional events are planned around the set, including Magic Presents: To Boldly Go from November 13, 2026, to January 28, 2027, as well as Commander Party dates in November and December. The Star Trek Set is therefore likely to be interesting for Commander Players not only as a product, but also as an event theme.
Which products are being released for Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek?
Wizards has now confirmed a broad product lineup. This means the set can be experienced in very different ways depending on your interests. Those who want to draft can choose Play Boosters or Draft Night. Those who want to collect will tend to look at Collector Booster, Scene Boxes, or the Beam Me Up Bundle. Commander fans get four ready-to-play Commander decks as well as matching Collector's Edition Commander decks.
For the German market, both German and English product variants are of interest. That's why products such as Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Booster in German, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Booster in English, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Booster Display in German, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Booster Display in English, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collectors Booster in German, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector Booster in English, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collectors Booster Display in German, and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector Booster Display in English are listed separately by language. The content remains the same Star Trek Set; only the language and product name differ depending on the version.
Play Booster and Play Booster Box
The Play Boosters are the classic main product for Draft, Sealed, and regular Booster openings. A Play Booster Box contains 30 Play Boosters. Each Play Booster contains 14 Magic cards and a double-faced token as a non-Foil card.
In the Booster, you’ll find 7 common cards, 3 uncommon cards, 1 wildcard of any Rarity, 1 traditional Foil card of any Rarity, 1 rare or mythic rare card, and 1 land card. In 1 out of 25 Play Boosters, a Stardates card replaces a common card.
For Players, Play Boosters are the most versatile choice because they are suitable both for opening and for Limited formats. Anyone who simply wants to get into the set and collect many cards from Magic: The Gathering | Anyone looking to get to know Star Trek will usually start with Play Boosters.

Collector Booster and Collector Booster Box
The Collector Boosters are aimed more at Collectors. A Collector Booster Box contains 12 Collector Boosters. Each Collector Booster contains 15 Magic cards and either an artwork card or a traditional Foil token.
In Collector Boosters, you’ll find plenty of Foils, cards with extended borders, Booster Fun cards, and special variants such as Surge Foil LCARS cards, Klingon Script cards, Stardates cards, and iconic lands. Most importantly, signed Headliner cards can only appear in Collector Boosters.
So if you are primarily looking for special variants, premium cards, and collectibles, Collector Booster are the set’s key product.

Commander decks
For Commander Players, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck Set auf Deutsch are being released. In German, they are called Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Flotte der Föderation“ auf Deutsch, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Außenteam“ auf Deutsch, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Klingonischer Zorn“ auf Deutsch, and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Wir sind die Borg“ auf Deutsch. In English, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck Set auf Englisch is released as Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Federation Fleet“ auf Englisch, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Away Team“ auf Englisch, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „Klingon Wrath“ auf Englisch, and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Deck „We Are Borg“ auf Englisch.
This makes it easy to link to the products naturally later without having to write out every name unnecessarily in full. Those searching specifically will find, for example, the German variant Flotte der Föderation or the English variant Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander Deck „Federation Fleet“ in English. The same applies to Außenteam and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander Deck „Away Team“ in English, Klingonischer Zorn and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander Deck „Klingon Wrath“ in English, as well as Wir sind die Borg and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander Deck „We Are the Borg“ in English.
Each Commander Deck contains a ready-to-play 100-card deck, including a traditional Foil cover Commander with borderless artwork and 99 non-Foil cards. It also includes 32 new Magic cards, 10 double-sided token cards, a rules reference card and a Deck Box.
The four decks are particularly exciting because Commander already thrives on legendary characters, factions and clearly defined deck themes. Star Trek provides plenty of material for this. The Federation, away teams, Klingons and Borg already feel like distinct Commander strategies by name alone.

Collector's Edition Commander decks
In addition to the regular Commander decks, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Collector's Edition Commander Deck Set in English will also be released. Here, too, there are the four deck themes Flotte der Föderation, Außenteam, Klingonischer Zorn and Wir sind die Borg, as well as the English variants Federation Fleet, Away Team, Klingon Wrath and We Are Borg.
These Collector's Edition Decks also contain a ready-to-play Commander Deck with 100 cards, but are much more focused on premium aesthetics. The cover Commander is included as a Surge Foil Card with a borderless illustration, and the other 99 cards are also Surge Foil Cards. In addition, there are 10 double-sided Surge Foil tokens, a reference card, and a Deck Box.
For Players who simply want to play a Deck, the regular Commander decks are entirely sufficient. For Collectors or Commander fans who want to own a Star Trek Deck as a premium version, the Collector's Edition Commander decks are the more eye-catching option.

Bundle
The Bundle is a good middle ground between boosters, Accessories, and a collectible product. It is available as the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Bundle in German and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Bundle in English and contains 9 Play Booster, 15 traditional Foil basic lands, 15 non-Foil basic lands, one traditional Foil Promo Card, 2 reference cards, an oversized Spindown life counter, and a card storage box.

Beam Me Up Bundle

It contains 8 Play Booster, 1 Collector Booster, 15 traditional Foil basic lands, 15 non-Foil basic lands, 2 traditional Foil Beam Me Up Bundle Promo Cards, 2 reference cards, an oversized Spindown life counter, and a card storage box.
The Beam Me Up Bundle Promo Cards are particularly interesting. There are 8 different Promo Cards in total, and each Beam Me Up Bundle contains 2 of them as traditional Foil cards. These cards show spaceships from Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek in the form of a schematic representation. For fans of Star Trek ships, this should be a strong focal point for collecting.

Beginner Box
The Beginner Box is aimed at new Players and is available as the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Beginner Box in German and the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Beginner Box in English. It contains 10 thematic Jumpstart half-decks with 20 cards each. Two of these half-decks are built as tutorial decks and are intended to be played against each other.
The Beginner Box also contains 5 non-foil tokens, 2 playmats, 2 gameplay guides, 2 rules reference cards, 2 Spindown Dice, and a quick-start guide. If you love Star Trek but have barely played Magic so far, the Beginner Box is probably the easiest way to get started with the set.

Draft Night
Draft Night is designed for a compact draft experience and is available as the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Draft Night Box in German and the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Draft Night Box in English. The product contains 12 Play Boosters, 1 Collector Booster, 90 non-foil basic lands, 10 double-sided token cards as non-foil cards, and a draft insert.
Draft Night is especially interesting if you want to start playing right away with a small group. It is a product for game nights where not everyone wants to gather Boosters and lands individually.

Scene Boxes
Two Scene Box products are being released for Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek: the Enterprise-Q Scene Box and the Divergent Timeline Scene Box. Both are available in German and English, namely as the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Enterprise-Q Scene Box in German, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Enterprise-Q Scene Box in English, Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Divergent Timeline Scene Box in German, and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Divergent Timeline Scene Box in English.
Each Scene Box contains 3 Play Boosters, 6 traditional borderless Foil cards, 6 Artwork cards, and a display stand. The Enterprise-Q Scene Box shows the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise in an encounter with Q. The Divergent Timeline Scene Box tells an alternative story surrounding James T. Kirk and a crew setting out on their first voyage. These products are particularly exciting for Collectors because the six cards together form a larger scene.

Prerelease Pack
The Prerelease Pack is intended for Prerelease events and is available as Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Prerelease Pack in German and Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Prerelease Pack in English. It contains 6 Play Boosters, 1 traditional Foil card of rare or mythic rare Rarity, 1 Deck Box, and 1 Spindown Dice.
If you want to experience the set in Sealed format before the official Release, the Prerelease Pack is the right product. Especially with a Universes Beyond set featuring so many well-known characters and new mechanics, the Prerelease should be a lot of fun.
What special card variants are available?
Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek brings several special card prints and collectible variants. The set draws not only on the characters and stories of Star Trek, but also on the visual style of the series.

Signed Headliner cards
The most striking special feature is probably the signed Headliner cards. There are 7 different signed cards, each hand-signed by a Star Trek actor or actress. Approximately 250 copies of each signed card are available.
These cards can appear only in Collector Boosters. Regardless of the language of the booster, the signed card itself is always in English. This is an important point for Collectors, as these cards are genuine Star Trek collectibles within a Magic set.

Stardates cards
The Stardates cards combine well-known Magic cards with Star Trek moments. They are recognizable reprints with new Star Trek illustrations. One example is Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as Khan, Engineered Evil.
There are 30 different Stardates cards in total. Non-Foil variants can appear in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. Traditional Foil versions are available only in Collector Boosters.

LCARS Cards and LCARS Shock Lands
The LCARS Cards draw on the Enterprise's familiar computer interface. LCARS stands for Library Computer Access and Retrieval System and is one of Star Trek's most recognizable design elements.
The LCARS Shock Lands are particularly exciting. All 10 Shock Lands appear in Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek with LCARS frames. They include familiar lands such as Overgrown Tomb and Breeding Pool. There are 29 LCARS Cards and 10 LCARS Shock Lands in total. Non-Foil and traditional Foil versions appear in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, while Surge Foil variants are available only in Collector Boosters.

Classic Enterprise Cards
The Classic Enterprise Cards are visually inspired by old Star Trek posters and capture the look of the original series. There are 24 Classic Enterprise Cards. Non-Foil and traditional Foil versions appear in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, while Surge Foil versions are available only in Collector Boosters.

Scene Cards
The Scene Cards depict larger scenes that span multiple cards. There are 25 Scene Cards in total across Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. In addition, the Enterprise-Q Scene Box and the Divergent Timeline Scene Box are two standalone products, each containing 6 traditional Foil Scene Cards.
Which mechanics does Magic: The Gathering introduce? | Star Trek?
Wizards has already revealed several mechanics. Particularly important are Assimilate, Face a Dilemma, Federation, as well as the return of Spacecraft and Station.
Assimilate
Assimilate fits the Borg perfectly. With this keyword action, you either gain control of a creature or put a creature card under your control onto the battlefield. That creature then gets a +1/+1 counter, becomes a Borg artifact creature, and loses its other creature types.
This is thematically very well executed because the Borg do not simply destroy others; they assimilate other beings into their collective. From a gameplay perspective, this mechanic could become particularly interesting because it changes opponents' resources while strengthening your own board.
Face a Dilemma
Face a Dilemma is all about choices. A player faces a dilemma when they choose one or more modes for a spell or ability. Certain cards respond to this and provide additional effects.
This fits Star Trek well because many episodes are based on difficult decisions. For Magic, this mechanic can be exciting because it rewards choices and makes cards with modes even more interesting.
Federation
Federation is an ability word centered on diversity among creature types. The ability checks how many different creature types a player controls among non-Borg creatures.
This reflects the Federation's core idea well: different species and cultures work together. For Deck building, this could mean that you want to combine as many different creature types as possible to make your Federation effects stronger.
Spacecraft and Station
Spacecraft and Station return from Edge of Eternities and play a major role in Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek. A Spacecraft starts as an artifact and can receive charge counters through Station. This gives it additional abilities and can later even turn it into a creature.
For a Star Trek Set, this is an obvious and highly fitting mechanic. Spaceships are not just decoration, but a central part of the series. Cards such as U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class show how strongly spaceships are integrated into this set.
Which cards have already been shown?
A complete card list has not yet been published, but Wizards has already shown several cards and variants. These include Captain James T. Kirk, Captain Kathryn Janeway, Dr. Beverly Crusher, Seven of Nine, Borg Queen, Perfection Manifest, Hoshi Sato, Exolinguist, Set Phasers to..., Amok Time, The City on the Edge of Forever, Salt Vampire, and U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class.
Promotional cards such as Highly Illogical, Munitions Enthusiast, Solemn Simulacrum, and Burst Lightning were also shown in the Star Trek style. Particularly exciting is the previously mentioned Stardates version of Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as Khan, Engineered Evil.
This already makes it clear: The set does not focus on just individual series or characters, but spans many eras of Star Trek. Wizards itself describes the set as a journey through all Star Trek eras.
Who is Magic: The Gathering worthwhile for? | Star Trek?
Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek appeals to several target groups. For Commander Players, the four Commander decks are especially interesting. Flotte der Föderation, Außenteam, Klingonischer Zorn, and Wir sind die Borg provide ready-to-play decks with a strong theme. Those who prefer to collect or play with English product names can find the same decks as Federation Fleet, Away Team, Klingon Wrath, and We Are Borg.
For Collectors, Collector Boosters, signed Headliner cards, LCARS variants, Stardates cards, Scene Cards, Classic Enterprise cards, and the Beam Me Up Bundle are particularly exciting. The hand-signed cards in particular are a special feature that has not previously existed in Magic in this form.
For Beginners, the Beginner Box is the best choice. It is designed to make it easier for new players to get started. Star Trek fans who want to try Magic get a product that does not immediately overwhelm them with complex Deck building.
For Limited Players, Play Boosters, Prerelease packs, and Draft Night are interesting. The main set can be played in Draft and Sealed, and the Play Boosters contain cards from TRK and SDS when opened there.

Those looking for premium versions can find the matching Collector's Edition Commander Decks in German or English.
