With Riftbound: Unleashed, the third set of the League of Legends Trading Card Game is about to launch. For Players and Collectors, Set 3 brings not only new cards, but also fresh mechanics, exciting Champions, and a new rarity level for the first time. If you want to know what to expect, when the Release is, and which products are worth it, you will find the complete overview here.
What is Riftbound: Unleashed?
Riftbound Unleashed is the third major set in the Riftbound TCG and builds on the previous expansions. In terms of content, everything revolves around hidden strength, tactical timing, and control of the battlefield. The motto "Power strikes from the shadows" fits perfectly.
The focus is on dynamic plays in which you cleverly build up your resources and strike at the right moment. If you enjoy playing strategically or like complex board states, you will probably enjoy this set in particular.
With over 220 cards and more than 30 alternative artworks, Unleashed offers plenty of new material for both deck builders and Collectors. At the same time, the set noticeably expands the gameplay experience with new tokens and mechanics.
Release Date of Riftbound Unleashed
The Release of Riftbound Unleashed has already been officially confirmed and will take place in several phases:
- China Release: April 10, 2026
- Pre-Rift Events (English): May 1 to 7, 2026
- Global Release (English): May 8, 2026
- Summoner Skirmish Window 1: from May 25, 2026
- Summoner Skirmish Window 2: from June 22, 2026
For you as a player in Germany, May 8 is particularly important. From this point onward, the products will be officially available. If you want to get started right away, it is worth taking a look at the Pre-Rift Events. There, you can test the set before Release.
New mechanics in Unleashed
A central highlight of Riftbound Set 3 is the new gameplay mechanics. They noticeably change the game and add more depth to every match.
XP - the new resource
XP is the most important new addition in the set. You can build up this resource during the game and use it for powerful effects. At the same time, XP affects the level of many cards.
This ensures that your decisions carry more weight in the long term. You have to weigh whether to use XP immediately or save it for later power plays.
Hunt – Control brings progress
With Hunt, you generate XP by capturing or holding a Battlefield. This rewards active play and Map Control.
Aggressive or tempo-oriented Decks in particular benefit from this. Whoever dominates the battlefield is also rewarded with additional resources.
Ambush – Surprise attacks
Ambush brings a new form of reaction to the game. You can play certain units directly as a response to a Battlefield where you are already present.
This opens up entirely new possibilities for counterplay and leads to unexpected twists. In close matches, Ambush can make all the difference.
These Champions are in the spotlight
Riftbound Unleashed also delivers plenty of fan service with its Champions. Several well-known League of Legends characters are at the heart of the set. These include:
- Diana
- Vi
- Pyke
- Kha’Zix
- Lillia
- Ivern
Kha’Zix is particularly exciting, as he is closely linked to the XP mechanic. This shows how closely gameplay and Champion design are intertwined.
The set also makes a strong visual impact. The Artwork highlights Vi, Rengar, Master Yi, and LeBlanc, among others. This gives Unleashed a strong Jungle and Assassin vibe that fits the game mechanics perfectly.
New Tokens and game elements
Unleashed expands not only the card pool, but also the overall feel of the game with new Tokens and Markers, such as Bird Tokens, XP trackers, Reflections, Brush Tokens, and the Baron Pit.
These elements bring additional interactions to the board and make matches even more dynamic. The Baron Pit Token is particularly interesting, as it enters play directly with Baron Nashor.
For you, this means a better overview, but also more strategic possibilities. The board becomes significantly more complex, especially in longer matches.
Which products are being released with Unleashed?
As with every major set, Riftbound Unleashed products are also available in formats for different target groups. Whether you want to collect or play right away, you’ll find the right format here.
Booster Display and Booster packs
The centerpiece remains the classic Booster Box. Perfect for:
- Collectors looking for rare cards
- Opening fans
- Deck builders
This is where you have the best chance of finding alternative Artworks and rare cards.
Champion decks: Vi and Vex
With Unleashed, two new Champion decks are being released:
- Vi Deck
- Vex Deck
Both Decks each contain:
- 56 ready-to-play cards
- 1 Booster from Unleashed
Ideal for Beginners or if you want to start playing right away without spending a long time building Decks.
The Vault – the new hybrid product
An exciting new format is The Vault. This product combines collecting and playing:
- 6 Unleashed Booster packs
- 36 Basic Runes
- 3 double-sided Full-Art tokens
- 2 Divider
- Reusable Storage Box
If you’re just getting started with Riftbound or want to organize your Collection, The Vault is a very practical option.
Of course, you can also find such products in the cardcosmos range, where you can conveniently get everything related to Riftbound and other TCGs.
Why Baron Nashor matters to Collectors
The biggest highlight for Collectors is probably the introduction of the Ultimate Rarity. This rarity level makes its debut with Unleashed.
The first card in this category is Baron Nashor. It is a so-called Overnumbered card that appears in fewer than one percent of Booster packs.
For you, this means:
- extremely low Pull Rate
- high collector value
- strong long-term potential
Especially if you’re investing in rare cards or investments, you should keep an eye on this topic. Ultimate Rares could play a similar role in the long term as Chase Cards in other TCGs.
