OP17 is therefore significantly more interesting for Players and Collectors than the first announcements suggested. Among others, Bandai puts Rocks D. Xebec, Loki, Monkey D. Luffy, Shanks, Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, and Edward Newgate in the spotlight. There are also new Straw Hat Crew cards in Elbaph outfits, special 4th Anniversary artworks, and a Super Leader Alt-Art introduced for the first time.

In this updated overview, you'll find all the important information about One Piece OP17 The World’s Strongest Warriors: Release, set contents, new Leaders, Rocks Pirates, Elbaph cards, special alternate arts, and the OP17 product currently available at cardcosmos.

What is One Piece OP17 The World’s Strongest Warriors?

OP17 is the seventeenth main set of the One Piece Card Game and, at the same time, the major anniversary set celebrating the TCG's fourth birthday. Its full English name is The World’s Strongest Warriors.

The title now fits the actual content very clearly. The set brings together some of the most powerful characters in the One Piece world and combines several major themes: the Straw Hats on Elbaph, the legendary Rocks Pirates, and the Four Emperors.

For the international English version, the Prerelease took place on August 21, 2026, followed by the regular Release on August 28, 2026. The Japanese edition was released earlier in August and remains particularly interesting for Collectors who collect One Piece cards in Japanese or prefer sealed Displays.

The updated set size is important here: Before the Release, smaller figures were circulating. Bandai now officially lists the English version as 131 + 4 card types. Parallel cards and alternate artworks also mean that the actual number of collectible variants is significantly higher.

The Six New Leaders in OP17

OP17 introduces six new Leaders to the One Piece Card Game. They represent some of the series' biggest names:

  • Edward Newgate
  • Shanks
  • Rocks D. Xebec
  • Kaido
  • Monkey D. Luffy
  • Charlotte Linlin

This selection explains the name The World’s Strongest Warriors particularly well. Whitebeard, Shanks, Kaido, and Big Mom are among the best-known figures of power in the One Piece world, while Rocks D. Xebec represents a central part of the historical pirate era. Luffy connects this legendary past with the current story.

Rocks D. Xebec and the Rocks Pirates Take Center Stage

One of the most important themes of OP17 is the Rocks Pirates. Bandai is showcasing not only Rocks D. Xebec himself, but also numerous members of his legendary crew.

These include Edward Newgate, Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, Shiki, Gloriosa, Captain John, Wang Zhi, Miss Buckingham Stussy, Streusen, and other characters.

This creates a new cohesive deck theme for Players. For Collectors, it is particularly interesting that Bandai is also featuring the Rocks Pirates with special 4th-Anniversary alternate arts.

Elbaph: The Straw Hat Crew Gets New Cards

At the same time, OP17 is one of the first major sets to bring the Straw Hat Crew's current Elbaph look prominently into the One Piece Card Game.

Among other cards, new cards featuring Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe in their Elbaph outfits were officially revealed.

Loki, the former king of the Kingdom of Warland, is also one of the set's central characters and appears as an important card in OP17. In this way, The World’s Strongest Warriors combines current manga themes with historical legends such as the Rocks Pirates.

The first Super Leader Alt-Art: Monkey D. Luffy

One of OP17's biggest innovations is the introduction of a Super Leader Alt-Art. This particularly premium variant goes to Monkey D. Luffy OP17-079.

Bandai describes the Super Leader Alt-Art as a particularly elaborate version of a Leader card that uses artwork from the original One Piece manga. For collectors, this Luffy card is therefore one of the clear highlights of the entire set.

Leader cards are already particularly popular in the One Piece Card Game because they remain visible throughout play while also offering strong collector appeal. An additional premium tier above the familiar Leader Parallels makes them even more appealing.

Super Alt-Arts of the Four Emperors

Another major collector theme is the Four Emperors. OP17 prominently features Edward Newgate, Shanks, Kaido, and Charlotte Linlin side by side, giving several of these cards especially premium alternative designs.

Especially for collectors who organize their binders by crews, emperors, or legendary pirates, this part of the set is one of the most interesting sections.

Kaido with an illustration by Keisuke Itagaki

One of the most striking special cards features Kaido with a newly drawn illustration by Keisuke Itagaki, the creator of the Baki series.

Such artist crossovers are especially exciting in the One Piece Card Game because they depict familiar characters in a distinctly different art style. The Kaido card clearly stands out from regular set cards and is one of OP17's special collector motifs.

4th Anniversary Pirate Crew Alt-Arts

For its fourth anniversary, OP17 introduces special Pirate Crew Alt-Art Cards. Bandai highlights two major groups in particular:

  • Straw Hat Crew
  • Rocks Pirates

This makes OP17 more than just a regular main set; it is also a true anniversary product. The special crew artwork visually connects multiple cards and makes them especially appealing to Binder collectors.

Color of the Supreme King Haki Special Cards

Another distinctive card style in OP17 refers to Conqueror's Haki, also known as Color of the Supreme King Haki. These Special Cards have their own design and are among the set's premium variants.

This means that, in addition to classic Alt-Arts, Leader Parallels, and the new Super Leader Alt-Art, OP17 offers another clearly recognizable collecting style.

Which Secret Rares are there in OP17?

The most important regular high-rarity cards include Rocks D. Xebec and Loki. Both characters fit perfectly with the set's two major story focuses: Rocks represents the legendary pirate era, while Loki represents the current Elbaph storyline.

Secret Rares are interesting for Players when their effects become relevant in competitive decks. For Collectors, Parallel and Alt-Art versions are the main focus.

OP17 in Japanese or English?

Japanese and English OP17 products contain the same basic set core, but differ significantly in Booster format.

A Japanese Booster usually contains 6 cards, while the English version contains 12 cards per Booster. Both Displays contain 24 packs. This creates a different opening experience, even though the cards belong thematically to the same set.

Japanese OP17 cards are especially interesting for Collectors who like the original language, Japanese packaging, and sealed Displays. English OP17 cards are more practical for many European Players because card text is easier to read and can be used in the local playing environment.

Which OP17 product is currently available at cardcosmos?

You can currently find the One Piece Card Game OP17 The World’s Strongest Warriors Booster Display in Japanese at cardcosmos.

The Japanese display contains 24 Booster packs with 6 cards each and is particularly suitable for Collectors who want to open as many cards and parallel variants from OP17 as possible or collect the anniversary set sealed.

You can find more One Piece products, older sets, and upcoming expansions in the One Piece Card Game Collection at cardcosmos.

What makes OP17 special for collectors?

OP17 is one of the sets where several collector factors come together at once:

  • 4th Anniversary Booster with anniversary designs
  • Super Leader Alt-Art Monkey D. Luffy
  • Rocks D. Xebec and the Rocks Pirates
  • Straw Hat crew in Elbaph outfits
  • Four Emperors as a central motif
  • Kaido artwork by Keisuke Itagaki
  • Pirate Crew Alt-Arts
  • Supreme King Haki Special Cards
  • Secret Rares and Treasure Rare

As a result, The World’s Strongest Warriors has much more of its own visual identity than an ordinary main set.

What makes OP17 interesting for Players?

For Players, the six new Leaders and the extensive support for their respective deck themes are particularly important. Among other things, OP17 expands strategies centered around Whitebeard, Shanks, Rocks, Kaido, Luffy, and Big Mom.

Bandai now also offers official Recommended Decks for the new cards. This makes it much easier to assess how the new Leaders and Support Cards work together than was possible before the Release.

For tournament Players, it is also important that Bandai states that OP17 cards are legal at participating Local Game Stores starting with the respective Prerelease.

Booster or Booster Display: Which is worthwhile for OP17?

Individual Booster packs are a good choice if you first want to get to know the set. A Booster Display, on the other hand, is more interesting if you want to open many cards from OP17, build decks, or specifically search for Parallel cards.

Even with a complete Booster Display, there is of course no guarantee of a specific Super Leader Alt-Art, Secret Rare, or other Chase Card. If you are looking for a specific card, you can later supplement Displays and Booster packs with individual cards.

One Piece OP17 is one of the most important sets of the anniversary year

One Piece OP17 The World’s Strongest Warriors is now much more than an announced anniversary set. Since its Release on August 28, 2026, it has become clear how strongly Bandai has actually implemented the fourth anniversary theme.

Rocks D. Xebec and his crew, the Straw Hats in Elbaph, the Four Emperors, Loki, and several new premium artworks give the set a clear identity. The first Super Leader Alt-Art of Monkey D. Luffy, the crew artworks, and the Kaido illustration by Keisuke Itagaki are particularly appealing to Collectors.

For Players, six new Leaders and numerous Support Cards open up new deck possibilities. For Collectors, The World’s Strongest Warriors offers several distinctive Chase categories and one of the strongest character line-ups in the history of the One Piece Card Game.
